Incidental Selling of Insurance

The objective of the ISI Committee was to:

1) Define Incidental Selling of Insurance (ISI);

2) Gather information on the regulatory regimes applicable in all Canadian jurisdictions and other jurisdictions if necessary;

3) Identify and gather information on potential issues around sales and claims processes related to ISI, including but not limited to the adequacy of the current regulatory regimes applicable to ISI, post claim underwriting and compensation on these products; and

4) Make recommendations on the issues identified.

The Incidental selling of Insurance Report was posted on the CCIR website in November 2008, completing the mandate of the ISI Working Group.
