Risk based Market Conduct

Initiative/Project Name:

Risk based Market Conduct (RbMC)

Status:

Complete

Description:

The objective of the Committee was to develop and document a vision of risk based market conduct regulation and appropriate tools to support such vision that individual regulators can consider for adoption in their jurisdictions or might employ collectively with other regulators in addressing shared market conduct concerns.

Fall 2008: CCIR agreed to the posting of finalized English and French versions of An Approach to Risk-based Market Conduct Regulation on the CCIR website.

In spring 2009, CCIR approved the use of the Approach paper as a framework for risk-based regulation. Regulators will continue to develop risk-based market conduct regulatory tools and practices for use in their individual jurisdictions and share them with CCIR.

The CCIR thanked the RbMC Committee for a job well done, noted that they have fulfilled their mandate admirably and agreed to disband the committee.
